Learning from your own mistakes.

We all make mistakes. All we've got to do, is learn from them and to get up and carry on.
Sometimes you'll feel really lousy about your mistake. Maybe even get depressed about it. But hopefully you've got the type of personality where after a few hours of feeling down, you pick your self up and you carry on going.
Nothing should stop you from trying to live your dream. It's one of the reasons why you're living. And then you can inspire other people to do the same.
There are going to be times when you have to make mistakes to progress closer to your dream. Who knows, it might make you a better person at the end of the day for it, so that you're a better person when you finally reach your dream.
Maybe you're one of those people that hate making mistakes, especially if you're in a position where you 'shouldn't' be making mistakes. Or maybe you're one of those people that can't stop making mistakes and everyone around tells you to stop making mistakes.
People don't ever stop making mistakes. All we can do is learn from them, and try not to repeat them again. So carry on living, make mistakes and make your dream happen!

Overcoming obstacles.

Sometimes you want to move forward...but there's something in your way.
Now you've got to figure out how to move past it. How does a person overcome obstacles?
Obstacles can pop up suddenly, when least expected. And sometimes you don't have the tools to get past the obstacle. So do you just sit and wait until an opportunity presents itself, or do you go looking for a solution?
Sometimes you get an obstacle that you've got to tackle step-by-step, and not in one go, so that it's time consuming and maybe even frustrating.
We're all presented with obstacles throughout our life, sometimes even challenges. It just depends how we cope with the obstacle or challenge. And nothing that's worth pursuing comes easy. You've got to work for it.
So here's a challenge for you today: Try to face your obstacles head-on, and if they need to be tackled slowly, or a solution needs to be found, have the patience and perseverance to see it through. And then go and tackle your dream, and make it come true.

Prioritizing.

When goals get made, be it long-term or short-term goals, do you prioritize which goals are going to be done first? Or do you just do the goals that you can and go from there?
Sometimes it's important to prioritize. Prioritizing can prevent you from winding up somewhere where you don't want to be, or in a situation you don't want to be in.
Say for instance, you want to make your shelved dream become a reality. You've got a job...but it doesn't pay much. So now you've got to plan how you spend your money, or your dream won't happen, because you haven't prioritized what you need and what you don't need. Like do you really need that brand new expensive cell phone when you could put that money away towards making your dream happen?
Sometimes we've got to plan for things, which is where prioritizing comes in. Goals also help to keep you motivated.
Prioritizing might get a bit tedious and boring sometimes, but to be successful, prioritizing is needed.
And if you want to have fun somewhere along the line...plan and prioritize for it! ; )
(Unless you've got the money to spend whenever and however you want! But then you've probably made your dream happen already!)

Do you believe in yourself?

If you want to make your shelved dreams a reality, it's important that you believe in yourself and that you can make your dream a reality...otherwise, chances are, it's not going to happen.
Sometimes, a person relies on someone else to believe in them. But how is that someone else supposed to believe in that person when that person doesn't believe in themselves?
So, how do you inspire belief in yourself?
Maybe you can start by doing something you enjoy, that you know you do well in. And then slowly but surely, you can work up to your shelved dreams...and finally take them off the shelf, dust them off, and see where you can go with them.
If you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything. And that will build up your confidence, which might lead you to trying to get other people to believe in themselves. You'll also feel better by trying to help someone that needs that extra boost. Having confidence and belief might also motivate you to try something different, maybe something that you were afraid to do before. Confidence could also rub off on the people around you, whether it be at work, at home, on holiday...so go out and have fun with your newfound confidence...it might take you places...

Everyone's dream.

Wouldn't it be nice if you won some money, and never having to work in your life again?
If you could become famous and earn the money some of these actors, actresses and singers do?
Some people only do a particular job for the money, not because they want to do it. Life would be so much easier if we could all earn big bucks...but that's not going to happen...unfortunately.
So, back to the real world. If you're going to be working, it's best that you do something you love, so that, like the saying goes,'you'll never have to work a day in your life'.
But, unfortunately, like everything else in life, you're still going to have to work to where you want to be, so that you can live your dream life. And chances are, the road/path to your dream isn't going to be easy. Chances are, you're going to have to take a lot of detours, make a lot of stops, make u-turns, run into obstacles, take chances. And that's how life is.
Nothing in life is guaranteed. You can plan as much as you want, chances are, sometimes, things are going to go off course. But don't beat yourself up about it. If you need to, ride through the rough patch as best as you can, and then carry on.
And don't ever give up hope, you can make your dream a reality, even if you're in your middle-age or older, or even if you've got your whole life ahead of you. Just keep believing, it will be what keeps you going.

Busy...living life.

Are you busy from 8 til 5 everyday of the week, and sometimes from 8 til 12 on a weekend? Do you ever think to yourself that you're never gonna get out of this 'work for the rest of your life til you retire' mess, doing a job that you don't want to do?
And when you get home, you just don't have the energy to do anything? And so the vicious cycle carries on...and you don't accomplish your dream.
On the other hand, while you're working, you might become inspired (like I did during this week while I was doing a temporary 2 week job). Do you keep a reminder of your inspiration in your head, or do you write it down so that you do remember in case you forget about it during the course of the day?
If you're currently in a job you don't like, start making a plan to get out of it and into a better place where you know you'll be happy and able to cope, and then also to make time for your dream.
If you're currently in a job you're comfortable in, still make a plan since you never know when you might get sick of the job.
It's hard having a 8 til 5 job, especially when you could be doing something else in some of those hours that you're working.
But whatever you do, don't give up hope. If you really need to, ask for some time off so you can go and review your dream and see if you can get the dream going. Then you'll be that much closer to making your dream happen and chances are, your hope will be restored for the future of your dream.

Learning from your job.

If you're still on your way to making your dreams happen, and therefore have a 'for now' job, take a look at what your current job is teaching you about yourself. In fact, if you can, look back at all the jobs you've had and see what you have learnt about yourself. Maybe you don't like being organized, maybe you don't like being indoors all day. Maybe you're craving for order. If you're not currently happy in your work position, look for a job that will provide the environment that you want. There will be times when there's going to be no other job available for you at that present moment. The moral of this particular post is: if you're happy with your current job, you'll be that much closer to making your dream happen, as opposed to unhappy in your job and focusing on everything else and not making your dream happen. Or even better, if there's a job open that's in line with your dream, make sure you take it, because then you'll definitely be on your way to your ideal dream.

Progressing at your own pace.

Have you ever come across someone who you see is rushing off headfirst into their goal(s) as if it's going out of fashion? Or even worse, have you ever been the victim of someone that is trying to push you to be at a certain point at a certain age? Let me give you an example: You want to take your time to study, or you want to start at a work situation that you think you can cope with, but someone is pushing you to study faster so that you can get a job faster or someone pushes you to take a job that you think you won't be able to cope with?
What I'm trying to say is that everyone progresses at their own pace in life. For example, some people get their driver's licence at 18 years of age, some people only get their driver's at 25 years of age. Or people tell you that when they were your age, they were doing this and this already, whereas you're not even there yet. After awhile, you start feeling bad, that you should be progressing at the rate other people are progressing at. BUT, each individual progresses at their own pace. So what if you don't have a job at the age of 20. Yes, it is going to make life a bit difficult, but there shouldn't be any rush. So what if you aren't at the job position everyone else your age is at when you're only 25 years of age.
Don't feel bad if people your age are achieving a lot more than you are at that particular stage in your life. It is worth it to take a look around instead of just performing all the time. Life isn't about who gets the fastest or best results. Don't be tempted to live the fast paced life everyone else is living, otherwise you're just going to end up burnt out and bitter. You (hopefully) have your whole life ahead of you to achieve your goals. Make the most of it...and remember to stop every once in a while to take a breather, look at the scenery and see how far you've come.

Your dream or someone else's dream?

In this day and age, it's good to be practical. Someone you know (could be parents, siblings or relatives) suggests you do this job or that job. Take note of the suggestion, but don't fall into the trap of doing the job because the person that suggested it couldn't do the job that they are suggesting that you do or because they convince you that it's practical. If you want a job that's going to make you a bit of money, get a job that you're going to like, otherwise it won't be worth the money you make. Don't make the mistake of living someone else's dream. And only take on a job that you can handle.
What if you're busy living your dream but you see someone you know or care about that isn't living their dream. Ask them if you can give them some advice or maybe help them to reach their dream, but only if you're in the position to help them. Maybe if both of you want to reach your dreams, you can be each other's support. It may seem like only the lucky people reach their dreams, but you can too, and once you do, you can help other people do the same.

Inspiration to carry on...

What inspires you to carry on hoping to live your dream, or if you're living your dream, what inspires you to carry on living your dream?
Inspiration can come from various places, and different things are going to inspire different people. Like last night, I was watching TV, and after the TV programme I watched, I came up with a new story idea (I want to become a novel writer). So now I've just got to develop the idea, and nurture it. Hopefully something will become of it...but then I've got to work at it for it to become a reality. Sometimes a person needs a reminder of the inspiration to keep them going. If you need the reminder, make sure you keep it somewhere where you'll see it everyday...and then start to work towards it. But don't take giant leaps towards your dream. Make sure they're small and within your reach. Don't let your dream die, or shelve it to only forget about it. Let your inspiration make you take that first bold step forward...and if you need help, ask for it. Chances are, you're going to need help making your dream a reality. Ask for support. And if you hit a rough patch, let the people around you remind you of your ultimate goal...where you really want to be, and then get back up and carry on...

Fulfilled life?

Are you lucky enough to be living your dream right now, or are you stuck in a place you don't want to be? Chances are, you've made decisions that you regret, but all you can currently do is move forward and make the best of it...or can you change it? Is there the option to change it? Or even better, the opportunity? Have you ever let an opportunity pass you by because you didn't think you could do it, or you were too afraid to take that step, or you had too many responsibilities to even think of taking that opportunity?
Do you ever wonder what tomorrow's going to bring or do you know because the same things happens every single day? Do you wish for more variety or adventure? Or maybe even more stability?
Do you ever crave silence from the chaos in your life? Do you wish everything would just stop so you can process everything? Or is your life so quiet and dull that you'd like to have a nice refreshing change to get you going again?
Whatever it is that you want, go and grab it if you can, because you'll be a happier person for it. The world needs a few more happy people everyday that is living their dream life.

Introduction

Here's a blog about shelved dreams.
It's about the dreams that you've shelved for another day, another month, another year.
You may have reasons for shelving them.
Sometimes they're forgotten, sometimes they're taken out and looked at every now and then, and sometimes it's just easier to carry on with the life you're currently living.
Some of you are living your dreams, but a lot of you aren't. Some of your dreams have been shattered, and you're left to pick up the pieces.
Some of you are trapped in a life you don't want to live, but that you don't know how to get out of, or can't get out of.
Hope is what keeps your dream alive. Reaching for your dream is a whole other story.
Here's to your shelved dreams...may you achieve them.
